About the event
Celebrating Palestrina’s 500th anniversary year, we begin our 2025 season with a full performance of his exquisite Missa Ave Regina Coelorum. We also will sing shorter works by Byrd, Victoria, and Hassler - contemporaries of Palestrina in different parts of Europe. In this way we get to hear Palestrina’s distinctive style in context, and gain a keener understanding of why he’s one of the giants of the Western European musical tradition.
